Welcome to Underwater Battlespace 2010

Developing and exploiting underwater capabilities to secure theatre

Navies are facing the growing problem of asymmetric threats in the underwater domain. Ensuring port security, keeping key waterways free from mine obstruction and on-going Anti-Submarine Warfare activities are all competing for focus in the increasingly complex underwater battlespace environment. Never before has the pressure been so great to deliver upon competing demands.

Join us at UWB 2010 and discuss how to:

  • Enhance mine sweeping and mine hunting to deliver increased littoral security: Detailing the modular application of the Littoral Combat Ship, future MCM capability plans for the Royal Navy and Royal Netherlands Navy and insight into current MCM developments at the Maritime Warfare Centre.
  • Deliver more advanced anti-submarine capability to ensure shallow water security and harbour protection: Feedback and lessons learned from the French Navy’s harbour protection trials, use of FFI’s Synthetic Aperture Sonar to enhance underwater sensing and insight into TNO’s underwater warfare testbed for modelling underwater threats.
  • Leverage expert feedback and latest research to maximise autonomous capabilities: Insight into the German MoD’s AUV philosophy and procurement plans, development of location to shooter capability at NATO’s Underwater Research Centre, overview of the Naval Surface Warfare Centre’s AUV architecture and the US Navy’s future key projects in autonomous systems.

Underwater Battlespace 2010 will cover the issues that matter to you:

  • How are autonomous underwater vehicles being developed to enable navies to take men out of the water in known mine areas?
  • What are the integration challenges facing the increased usage of autonomous systems alongside existing platforms and how can these be overcome?
  • What are the latest and most innovative sensors and sonars to increase your anti-submarine warfare capabilities?
  • What is the effect of the re-emergence of mine-sweeping to increase the speed and efficiency of existing mine-hunting methods?
  • How can COTS equipment be used to increase cost effectiveness and what challenges are faced in ensuring that existing standards are maintained?
